I joined a committee member on Monday by volunteering for the Houston Public Library at the University of Houston campus. It was a fun experience where I met friendly college students, discussed the organization - Friends of Houston Library, and took pictures with UofH mascots while dressed as Harley Quinn. Not the one from the Joker Part Deux but the Harley Quinn that many of us millennials grew up watching on the Batman Animated series.

Being Harley Quinn for the day seemed fitting considering that I have been surrounded by Harleys for the past two weeks—from attending Nerd Night (with committee member Kelly) to participating in a cosplay mini-con competition with the Harley Quinns of Houston to watching The Joker a couple of nights ago with the family. I must say this—it's not as bad as the movie critics make it. Definitely go see it for yourself.
The Friends of Houston Public Library is a great organization that accepts old books that the Houston Public Library no longer needs and distributes the material to the public for free. If the book is in complete shambles, the organization refurbishes it into do-it-yourself props. Students learned about Friends of Houston Library by visiting the booth and getting to spin the wheel
for a shirt, book, or a piece of candy. Many of the students selected the book option! Overall, it was a good time, and I highly recommend volunteering for the library. It always feels good to give back, especially when they let you do it in cosplay.
